  31. The big advantage that the Mac has over the ST that could be corrected by
  32. outline screen and printer fonts is that the Mac can load and unload fonts
  33. as needed because of its automatically ejecting floppies  (Insert System
  34. Disk).  The ST loads all of its fonts when a program asks for them, but if you
  35. need to check fonts sizes on the printer fonts, you have to load evey one of
  36. them into memory.  In addition, the Mac uses the same bitmapped fonts
  37. (albeit in different sizes) to do printer output so you don't have two
  38. different 12 point fonts stored in memory.

  40. Imagine how mnay Imagine how many fonts you could load if you just needed one
  41. outline for each typeface!  Even with a large cache, we'd win.

  64. area.

  104. If you don't manage to get things right by repairing the keyboard,
  105. you can just plug a DEC-Keyboard to the RS232C, and put "Deckey.tos"
  106. into your AUTO folder. It works quite well.

  175. What makes the 386 an industry standard? As far as I know, there are
  176. very few programs especially for it. The more people keep supporting only the
  177. PC-line (XT, AT, 386...), the more technology has to go along the
  178. same traditional tracks.

  180. I have got every program I've needed for my Atari ST this far. Usually they
  181. are more user-friendly than their PC-counterparts. I think it is stupid to
  182. speculate about if the TT is coming or not. They have already introduced
  183. it in Germany. (And if it wouldn't come, Atari could soon be in bankrupt
  184. or something...)

  191. How come that is beyond the power of a TT? For even the ST is NOW
  192. available a graphics card with resolution 1280x1024 with 16 colours from
  193. palette of 262144. And this is not the only one. I doubt a 25MHz 386 is
  194. any faster than a TT.

  224. Why compare an Apple with 68030 to an ST?!?! Compare a MAC to a ST and
  225. compare their price, too! A ST costs only less than a third of a rival
  226. MAC, at least here in Finland. You can still emulate a MAC with a ST
  227. even faster than a real MAC. Where does all that extra money Apple takes go?

  238. I think Atari has done a great job bringing computers affordable. Even
  239. if I should wait for my new computer a bit longer, it's worth the effort
  240. because I can get it many times cheaper than from other manufacturers.
